The Irvington Historical Society, established in 1964, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history, art, and culture of Irvington, a historic eastside neighborhood in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Irvington Historical Society is headquartered in the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, located in the heart of Irvington.  The Bona Thompson Memorial served as the Butler University library  from 1901-1928 when Butler was located in Irvington.  The center now houses  the Irvington historic archives.  In the spirit of Irvington's artistic past and present, the Bona Thompson Memorial Center houses a permanent Hoosier-School Artists collection and a rotating contemporary art collection. The Bona Thompson Memorial Center is also available for tours and rentals.

July 29-September 25, 2005

This show will be an exciting twist on the typical gallery show, with both rarely seen privately-held works, now for sale and museum collection pieces from around the state for your enjoyment.  For years, Wheeler influenced Indiana art through his teaching at Herron Art Institute.  He and his wife Hilah also taught and practiced art at their Irvington home.
